Planning is a crucial step in implementing assessment portfolios in the classroom. First, purpose and audience are determined. Together, purpose and audience frame the entire portfolio process and provide a road map for you and your students. It is also in the planning phase that criteria are set to ensure that your assessment is both valid and reliable.
